Around here, they may not be… or perhaps it’s a silent majority.

Either way, you have others who believe the same as you. I’m still not sure how much of a government issue it is, and I certainly don’t believe that every practice of Christianity should be legislated, but I know what I believe about marriage. And I agree that I have never been met with so much hate and vitriol as when I have carefully explained where I stand on this issue. I am practicing my freedom of religion and a right to vote. It is not out of hate, but out of conscience and conviction that I choose the way I do. Others are welcome to advocate what they believe is best, too. But, as you said, don’t dare extrapolate from my decision that I am ignorant and full of hate. I am able to continue loving people while opting not to participate in legalizing certain practices.

If gay marriage is eventually legalized, God will still be on His throne and life will go on. However, I don’t intend to contribute to that societal shift, as I still serve God first and foremost. And I will continue to love my friends, regardless of their preferences. That’s what Christ modeled for us, and I intend to do the same.
